But who is Harv, and how did he go from being a zero to hero?
T. Harv Eker was born to European immigrants who arrived in North America with only a few dollars to survive. Growing up in Toronto, Canada, Harv’s early life was tough – money was scarce in his household, and his parents battled to make ends. This led Harv to enter the work force at the young age of 13, where he delivered newspapers, worked at local fairs and even worked as an ice-cream scooper to make extra money during his teen years. Later, he studied at York University, and this is where his dream of becoming a millionaire started to develop.
Moving to the US as a young adult, Harv began to grow his ambition of financial success – starting a number of business ventures, none of which panned out. Eventually, he went on to open one of the first retail fitness stores in the US, which grew to 10 branches in just two and a half years – Harv was able to sell of part of the business to a Fortune 500 company at an impressive $1.5 million, making his dream finally become a reality.
The development of the Millionaire Mindset
Despite realising his long-time goal of becoming a millionaire, in less than two years his money had been spent, due to poor investments and a lack of money management skills. This was when Harv started to consider the way people think about money and wealth. His blueprint was set for a certain level of financial achievement, meaning that everyone else’s blueprint was probably also set to something like this.
